Irus ecoSystem
A brief synopsis:
The Irus ecoSystem is an intelligent, cloud-based building management platform designed by Prefect Controls.
It is primarily used in multi-occupancy buildings i.e. student accommodations and Build-To-Rent (BTR) complexes, to automate, monitor, and optimise energy usage and maintenance.
Key Features of the Irus ecosystem
- Heating control: It manages individual room heaters based on actual occupancy, ambient temperature, and whether windows or doors are open.
- Water Management & Leak Detection: The system monitors water cylinders and water outlets, detecting potential leaks in showers, kitchen sinks, and pipes, triggering automatic alerts to prevent water wastage and property damage.
- Environmental Monitoring: It continually tracks room temperature, humidity, light, sound pressure, and CO₂ levels.
- Utility Metering: Irus monitors consumption of electricity and water use, alerting the system of unusual consumption.
- Safety: HobSensus ensures kitchen hobs are safely managed and automatically shuts off power if cooking is left unattended, contributing to fire prevention.
How it Works
The platform gathers granular data from ControlSensors placed throughout a building and relays it to a centralised, cloud-based dashboard. Building operators use the portal to view analytics, and track usage, while individual residents typically interact with controllers to adjust their immediate environment. The system reduces energy consumption (often lowering heating loads by up to 45%) and minimises operating costs through holistic analysis of data and automated control of devices.
